After the successes at the Green Wheel Relay last weekend, Fenland Running Club members continued the summer racing season with outings to the Peterborough Grand Prix 5K hosted by Eye Community Runners on Wednesday and both the Ramsey Road Runners Abbey 10K the SBR Grimsthorpe 10 mile and 10K on Sunday.  The hot weather on Wednesday continued into the early evening making the 5K quite a challenge for the 310 finishers and the 13 FRC runners.  Martin Jennings came a well placed eigth in 17:23and stuart Follen and Rod Sinnott bot broke the 20 minute barrier.  Full results: Martin Jennings 8th 17:23; Stuart Follen 46th 19:20; Rod Sinnott 59th 19:44; Tim Chapman 76th 20:12; Richard Hammond 99th 21:04; John Chapman 109th 21:27; Ian Milburn 158th 23:01; Trevor Sutherill 187th 24:32; Jane Greenwood 206th 25:12; Sue Barrow 226th 26:17; Larissa Follen 242nd 27:09; Julie Garner 274th 28:56; Lucy Hicks 290th 30:26.

Racing conditions were far better on Sunday at the Abbey 10k which is a multi-terrain course attracting 383 finishers of which 15 were FRC runners.  Martin Jennings continued his purple patch with a new PB time in 9th place overall and 1st MV45 breaking the 36 minute barrier in 35:57.  More Club honours followed with Maire Irlam 1st LV50 and Jane Greenwood 1st LV60, Nicky Jennings 2nd LV40 and Sarah Gauvin 3rd LV45.  There were also shiny new PBs for Rod Sinnott, Gilly Anderson and Lucy Hicks who knocked an impressive 3 minutes off her GEAR time and has a sub one-hour now in her sights.  Newcomer Hayley Missin had a really good first outing for the Club in a time of 54:23.  Full results: Martin Jennings 9th 35:57 (PB); Rod Sinnott 34th 40:22 (PB); Tom Richards 65th 44:18; Sarah Gauvin 80th 45:47; Maire Irlam 82nd 46:03; Paul Wiegand 85th 46:16; Ann Trett 90th 47:02; Nicky Jennings 94th 47:10; Jane Greenwood 146th 51:15; Sam Lyddiatt 182nd 53:21; Hayley Missin 199th 54:23; Trevor Sutherill 252nd 57:55; Julie Garner 255th 58:07; Gilly anderson 268th 58:57 (PB); Lucy Hicks 305th 1:03:36.

Ian King and Paulina Zub were at the Grimsthorpe 10 miles at Grimsthorpe Castle Lincolnshire on Sunday, a lovely mulit terrain race with 215 finishers where Ian was 36th in 1:27:14 and Paulina 1:28:27 coming 44th and 3rd in her LV35 age category. Sally King ran in the 10k at the same venue with 177 finishers and was 166th in a time of 1:22:24.
