St Valentines 30k

Ten runners from Fenland Running Club took part in the 27th St Valentines 30k (Stamford Striders) which was held on Sunday 23rd February after having been postponed from the previous week due to Storm Dennis making unsafe conditions for runners and marshals alike.
Temperatures reached 11*C but the fierce wind hit the runners from all directions as well as having the undulating hills to contend with. The course wound its way from Stamford’s Welland Academy through Little Casterton, Tolethorpe, Ryhall, Careby, Pickworth, and Great Casterton, finishing with a lap of the playing field at the Academy.
Steve Bennington (145th) and Rod Sinnott (146th) were first home for Fenland with an equal time of 2:24:09, giving Steve a PB by 2 minutes. Carol Bowett (255th) was Fenland’s first lady home, achieving a 1 minute PB in a time of 2:40:01 with Jane Clarke (278th) gaining a fantastic 10 minute PB with a finishing time of 2:43:39.
